2. The Seven Spirits of God, The Rainbow and The Menorah
Share
Though the Bible never directly links colour to the Seven Spirits of God, many scholars and students of Scripture have long seen pure light—which is actually composed of seven distinct spectrums—as a beautiful metaphor: each ray reflecting one facet of the 7 Spirits of God through His own divine spectrum.
The Seven Spirits of God
These are the Seven Spirits of God; Isaiah 11:2
- Spirit of the Lord,
- Spirit of Wisdom,
- Spirit of Understanding,
- Spirit of Counsel,
- Spirit of Might,
- Spirit of Knowledge,
- Spirit of the Fear of the Lord

A Lampstand of Promise

When God instructed Moses to build the golden lampstand (“menorah”) in Exodus 25, He described not only its shape and craftsmanship but its deeper purpose - to shine light in the Holy Place. Seven branches poured forth illumination from a single source, a vivid picture of completeness and divine presence.
In essence, both the golden menorah and the rainbow serve as powerful symbols of God’s light, presence, and faithfulness.
One stands as a crafted lampstand illuminating the tabernacle, the other arches across the sky after the storm—yet both remind us of the same promise: divine illumination guiding our path and steadfast mercy lighting our way.
In our next post, we’ll shift to science: we’ll look at how light itself splits into the seven hues of the rainbow, and how that natural “prism” echoes the divine promise of our Creator.
