1. Reflections on the Rainbow🌈

1. Reflections on the Rainbow🌈

Hi and thanks for being here.Ā

My lifelong passion for colour
My passion and love of colour has been one of those life‑long interests I’ve never tired of. For some, it’s sound, nature, water, or mountains. For me, it’s always been colour. I believe I was created to love it—and that part of my life’s purpose is to pursue, discover, and experience the joy and revelation woven through colour.

A covenant in the clouds
As a believer and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ—I’ve long been curious about the mystery of the rainbow. I’ve often asked: What does each colour represent? And how does colour affect our emotions, and relate to us.

In Genesis 9, the rainbow is revealed as a sign of God’s covenant with Noah—and with all living creatures. That has never changed. It’s a visible promise, placed in the clouds as a reminder that God would never again destroy the earth by flood.

A shift of heart and mind
Whenever I see a rainbow, however I’m feeling, something shifts. Looking up recalibrates me - pulling me out of the mundane and into an expansive awareness of something greater. To me, it’s more than a symbol of mercy; it’s a beautiful expression of God’s faithfulness, even in the face of human failure. Each time I glimpse those colors, I’m reminded that His promises still stand—vibrant, unchanging, full of hope and endless possibilities.

Capturing heaven’s artwork
As I gathered images for this post, I realized my phone is overflowing with photos of rainbows, sunrises, sunsets, and skies too pretty not to capture. With permission from my songbird daughter Millie I’d love to share a little video I took in front of our house after a summer storm.Ā

A song and a promise
It’s no surprise that one of my favorite songs is Somewhere Over the Rainbow. There’s something about the line ā€œand the dreams that you dare to dream really do come trueā€ that echoes a hope for the future tucked into every rainbow moment.

What’s next?

In my next post, I’ll explore something that’s stirred in my heart for years - how the seven colors of the rainbow connect to the seven Spirits of God and the lampstand described in Scripture. It’s not a strict formula, but a creative way to reflect on how God reveals Himself in color, light, and design.

Until then, may you find beauty in the skies too.Ā
